Karen, Community Connections

SHBELC fosters a strong sense of community that supports and enhances quality of life for all who attend the Centre through activities that encourage interaction between children, families, staff, volunteers and committee members SHBELC recognises it is a part of a broader community and educators strive to introduce and include opportunities to explore the cultures within our community. SHBELC recognises the Wurundjeri people as the first educators of children on this land and will further embrace Aboriginal culture into the program.

Through the program we further extend the children’s knowledge and understanding of the broader community and helping those in need. We engage community workers and skilled persons into our incursion program and organise fundraising projects for charities both within Victoria and aboard to increase the children’s awareness of how individuals can make a difference.
