Real-world objects and experiences are used to create meaningful learning opportunities and nurture creativity. Through play and exploration children develop knowledge, confidence and curiosity. Creative experiences include art, storytelling, imaginative play and music and movement – all tailored to your child’s unique interests and abilities.  

EXPLORING THE WORLD THROUGH PLAY 

Play is at the heart of everything we do, guiding children to develop essential skills at their own pace. We blend play based learning with a range of intentional teaching experiences in a way that feels natural and fun.  

OUTDOOR ADVENTURES 

Outdoor play is an essential aspect of our program, offering children opportunities to further develop balance, co-ordination, spatial awareness and gross-motor skills. While connecting with nature the program enables children to foster a sense of responsibility and care for the environment.  

SUSTAINABILITY 

Children are immersed in sustainable practices at SHBELC, such as growing vegetables, composting, caring for the gardens and learning about recycling. These hands-on experiences develop and foster a child’s sense of responsibility, independence and care for their world. 

COOKING and EVERYDAY SKILLS  

Cooking teaches numeracy and time through counting, measuring, number recognition and weighing ingredients, while assisting children to develop independence and confidence. These everyday skills connect learning to the child’s world making it both practical and meaningful.

Lisa’s passion for sharing music with young children is truly infectious. With over a decade of experience at Surrey Hills Baptist Early Learning Centre, she embraces the belief that music is a universal language that transcends barriers and fosters connections. In her vibrant classroom, you’ll often find Lisa strumming her guitar, her warm voice weaving through a kaleidoscope of nursery rhymes and songs, captivating little hearts and minds.

How are fees worked out? Is there a rebate?

Great questions!

With the Introduction of free 3 year old Kindergarten in Victoria (Yay!) came some complications with processing fees for childcare centres (classic government afterthought…). So, what happens is you pay childcare fees as per usual (less subsidiary of course), then you get rebated the free kinder subsidiary to your bank account each term.

So in no way are you missing out on free kindergarten! You just get rebated instead.
